Technical Differentiators
Bridgestone's Silica Rich Compound increases silica content to improve grip in cold, low-temperature conditions and in the wet, addressing the two situations where a tyre is furthest from its ideal working temperature. On the sport range, 3LC and 5LC layered compounds split the tread into two or three distinct zones, so the centre can prioritise straight-line stability and wear while the shoulders prioritise cornering grip, rather than one compound trying to do both jobs at once.
Head out early on a cold Blue Mountains morning, before the road's had a chance to warm up, and Silica Rich Compound is doing its work in the first few kilometres rather than making you wait for the tyre to come up to temperature before it feels planted. Later in the day, back on a fast, flowing road like the Grand Ridge Road in Gippsland, the 3LC shoulder compound takes over, holding grip through the corners while the centre strip keeps the tyre stable on the straights between them.
